West Coast Falco Fly-In

19th Annual West Coast Falco Fly-In
Gillespie County Airport (T82)
Fredericksburg, TX
September 18-20

Falco fans,

The date and site for the 2008 West Coast Falco Fly-in has been selected. As promised, the location is west of the Mississippi River. The dates are Sept 18, 19, and 20, the location is Fredericksburg, TX.

Fredericksburg is a small town in the central Texas hill country, close to the LBJ ranch, Willie Nelson’s Luckenbach TX, the Nimitz War of the Pacific Museum, and many other historic and interesting attractions. For the northern California folks, we also have several vineyards in the area so the withdrawal pains shouldn’t be too severe.

The Fly-in will be based at the Gillespie County Airport (T82) and we have 20 rooms blocked at the Hangar Hotel.  www.hangarhotel.com

The Hangar Hotel is custom built to resemble a 1940’s era WWII hangar complete with an Officers Club and railcar diner. For our former military types, you can be in the O club two to three minutes after parking your aircraft, depending on how fast you walk.

The fly-in schedule is still under development, but a tour of the Mooney factory in nearby Kerrville is scheduled for Friday morning, 19 Sept.

Please call the Hangar Hotel direct (830 997 9990) and make your reservations. Mention you are attending the Falco Fly-in to get the meeting discount rates ($99 for Thursday night, $159 for Friday and Saturday nights.). The rooms will be released 30 days before the event if not reserved. The Hangar Hotel has a 48 hour cancellation policy. All rooms have two King size beds, are all smoke free and pet free (in TX that means no smoking and no dogs, cats, snakes or livestock).

Please send an email to FalcoFlyin2008@gmail.com to let us know you are coming and that you have made the hotel reservations.

The Ground Transportation Management Team (that would be Jane) is investigating several options with the objective of eliminating the need for anyone to rent a car. However, rental cars are available at the airport if desired.

The town of Fredericksburg is only 2 miles from the air field and full of all manner of antique and craft shops, German restaurants, a micro brewery, and other exciting attractions.

If anyone is interested in flying commercial, Austin and San Antonio are both approximately one hour away by car, with several airlines offering connecting flights from Dallas (both Dallas Love Field and DFW).

Looking forward to seeing everyone in September. Any questions or comments can be addressed to FalcoFlyin2008@gmail.com
