Aviation Newsmakers of the 20th Century

The January 2000 issue of Aviation International News included an article on "Aviation Newsmakers of the 20th Century", a tribute identifying 50 people who set the stage for business aviation and 50 who staged the show. Those honored include the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, James Doolittle, Igor Sikorsky, William Boeing, Clyde Cessna, Marcel Dassault, Donald Douglas, Sir Geoffrey de Havilland, Howard Hughes, Sir Frank Whittle, Chuck Yeager, KellyJohnson, Neil Armstrong, Sam Williams and Stelio Frati.

Stelio Frati Picture an F.8 Falco (wooden forerunner to the Siai Marchetti SF.260) on the ramp in 1955 beside a Piper Tri-Pacer (representing contemporary U.S. GA styling) and you'll see how much influence this genius, born in Milan in 1919 and still active, brought to bear on airplane design.
