Scroll Wheel Zooming However, I have recently bought a mouse with a scroll wheel (a Logitech MX 1000 Laser Cordless Mouse), which I didn't much care for until I got USB Overdrive and got things adjusted. USB Overdrive has a feature known as accelerated scrolling, which they say takes a minute to get used to and two minutes to become addicted. I can confirm that. It's a phenomenal feature. When I tried scroll wheel zooming in PowerCADD, it worked essentially the same as the way I implemented it, using a zoom factor of 2x for each zoom-in and zoom out. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but once you experience accelerated scrolling, you get spoiled very quickly. So I decided to work on this to fine-tune the feature, with the idea that these improvements can move into PowerCADD in time. Alfred |
Using Accelerated Scroll Wheel Zooming
This zooming method is now built into WildTools 8.03.
To use, you must turn on Scroll Wheel Zooming in PowerCADD.
Then, while drawing with any tool in WildTools, move the scroll wheel to zoom in or out.
The zooming is accelerated, thus you can move the scroll wheel slowly to zoom in by small increments, or faster for larger increments.
The zooming is 'gridded' so that it will select logical zooming centered around Normal Size and twice normal size. You may zoom in very deep but deep zooming is slower.
When you zoom out, the zooming 'hits a wall' at the Reduce to Fit view.
