The 10 mm spruce doubler glued to the right #14 leading edge rib |
The method used to glue and clamp the right #1 intermediate leading edge rib |
It is important to get the chord line of the rib lined up exactly with the chord line of the spar. This is the right #14 leading edge rib glued to the spar. See the chord lines lined up? |
This shows the clamping method for gluing the leading edge strip to the left side of the wing. A combination of clamps and rubber strips were used. I tried to avoid using many clamps in the middle areas of the spar, to prevent the spar from bowing downward due to the weight of the clamps and ending up with a slightly bowed wing. The long rubber strip used to clamp the leading edge strip for gluing was much lighter than clamps. |
